Our clinic uses only mini-microchips (which are about the size of a grain of rice) registered within minutes on a national database for life with Global Micro. You will receive your registration confirmation e-mail from Global Micro before you even leave the clinic. The microchip is injected under your pet's skin and can be done during a normal consultation. The chip is embedded with a code unique to your pet and is the most effective form of permanent identification, so it is particularly useful in the return of lost pets. They can also assist where the ownership of an animal is in dispute.

Within the Toowoomba Regional Council microchipping is now compulsory for all dogs and cats, with random spot checks in place to enforce compliance. If your dog was born after 26 May 2017, then by law we require a SUPPLY or BIN number to register the chip. This number is easily obtained within a few minutes at no charge by the breeder of the dog from the Queensland Dog Breeder Register at https://qdbr.daf.qld.gov.au/

If a pet is ever lost and is handed in at a veterinary clinic or animal shelter a microchip scanner is passed over the animal to reveal the unique code. The vet or animal shelter can then refer to the database to identify the name, address and phone number of the owner, so they can be reunited.

If your pet is not microchipped please give us a call to make an appointment to have one inserted.  If you find a lost pet please call us to arrange a scan, we can reunite microchipped pets with their worried owners.

Please enquire about our discounted microchipping if added on to another visit or for litters of puppies and kittens. If you are getting a litter microchipped we are happy to register each animal directly into the new owners details (if known) as we believe this is extremely important to get done as soon as possible. If the new owners are not yet known we will supply correct transfer forms for each animal for you to lodge when they go to their new home.
