Dr Tracey Merritt
Veterinarian & Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons))
Dr Tracey Merritt
Veterinarian & Practice Owner
A true local growing up in Wyreema, wanting to be a vet for as long as she can remember, Tracey graduated from UQ in 2001 and spent the first 10 years of her career enjoying the variety of mixed paractice in Pittsworth. She took a year off in 2004 to travel and spent most of this time working in a mixed practice in Leominster in the UK. Despite finding the farm animal work to be quite rewarding, she moved to open the clinic at Westbrook in 2012 to embark on the new challenge of practice ownership and focus more on small animals. Originally established in partnership, Tracey took over as sole owner in 2017 when business partner Lyn decided on a different path.
Now with a grasp on business ownership, three young children, two ageing dogs, as well as a new rescued ring in and two rescued cats she is kept busy most of the time, utilising any free time to head out bush walking. This hasn't slowed down her passion for learning with her main interest being geriatrics, arthritis, rehab therapy and pain management of our precious companions.

Danni Barnes
Practice Manager (Cert IV Business Studies)
Danni Barnes
Practice Manager
Danni has been an avid animal lover since before she can remember. She grew up on different sized properties throughout NT, QLD and NSW with all types of animals, from horses, dogs, chickens & cats to buffalo, cattle, donkeys, and llamas.
Danni started her nursing career in 2008 in Bundaberg at a private practice and was immediately hooked by the passion & care from the people within the industry and was fascinated by the science. After leaving the vet clinic & Bundaberg, Danni moved to her other passion and worked on several horse studs with her husband. There she was first point of call for wound care and treatment protocols as well as being heavily involved in the repro side of things (AI for the Standardbreds and live cover for the thoroughbreds). She then went on to become Practice Manager at Gold Coast Equine Clinic for a short time.
She had some time off in 2017 to have a baby and this saw them move to the Widden Valley, NSW where her husband was offered the position of Broodmare Manager at Baramul stud. As pretty as it was down there one winter was enough to have us all screaming to come back to the warmth of QLD.
Danni & her family now call the Darling Downs home and they reside on 40acres just outside of Toowoomba. With her husband Paul and young son Tate they run their own Quarter Horse Stud, breeding performance horses for type, temperament, and ability. Danni’s passions & hobbies include time with her family, animal care, horses and competing in cutting and cattle sports with their home bred, raised and trained horses
